EMilio theMils

He/Him/His

Sacramento, California

What makes Emilio an Acro SuperHero?

I actually love spotting. I think of it as facilitating a perfect experience where everyone can feel safe and comfortable to push their limits and witnessing that growth is why I love spotting.

Emilio's super powers as an Acro Teacher:

My size 17 feet which provide the ultimate surface for balancing and my surprisingly catlike reflexes which have literally caught falling flyers with nothing, but my big toe! 😂

What type/style of Acro does Emilio teach?

I love teaching beginner Acro. Nothing is more rewarding than giving someone their first Acro experience and giving them a foundation to build on. I also love teaching L-basing, Hand to Hand, flows, pops and spotting.

Emilio's current Acro offerings:

I currently host a weekly jam on Tuesdays from 6-8 P.M. at The Phoenix Apartment Living in East Sacramento, occasionally teach a beginners class at CrossFit Sacramento in Arden from 7:30-8:30 P.M. on Fridays that rolls into a jam that ends at 11 and I do private lessons and group parties.

What to expect from Emilio's classes:

Students can expect to create a foundation for their Acro career to grow from starting with the basics and working up depending on the level. I try to make my classes lighthearted, playful and safe.

How does Emilio incorporate social justice themes into their Acro offerings?

I make sure to empower each person to feel comfortable flying or basing based on how they feel and not about their gender. I use empathy to understand where each person is in their Acro practice.

Emilio's BIO:

My entire life has been about movement. If I wasn't physically active I felt like I was dying. I learned to run before I could walk. At 2 years of age I started my first sport, T-ball, and eventually made my way through baseball, football, basketball, track and some unofficial martial arts and parkour. I've been certified to coach track and train military personnel in physical fitness through the Air Force, attended the Kenneth Cooper Institute of Aerobics and am certified to teach AcroYoga through the Acro & Social Justice Teacher Training. These things have given me a great understanding for the human body regarding how it moves in space and how our bodies move together. I have a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies which I use to connect with people, deliver clear and understandable instruction and make AcroYoga a fun and memorable experience.
